7 great shirts for Football Shirt Friday

It’s that time of year once again to show off your kit for a worthy cause.

Football Shirt Friday

Football Shirt Friday has become a notable date in the calendar of many football fans.

With everything going on in the world at the moment, the game itself is understandably the last thing on many people’s minds. However, as the end of the April approaches people from up and down the country will be digging out their best kit in the name of a more than worthy cause that deserves all our attention.

The event in question is Football Shirt Friday, but what exactly is it? Why should you get involved, and what are some cheap shirts worth picking up if you want to join in?

What is Football Shirt Friday?

Football Shirt Friday is an annual event which calls on people to share a picture of themselves in a football shirt on social media, whilst donating to the Bobby Moore Fund. The fund was set up by Bobby Moore’s widow Stephanie Moore MBE in partnership with Cancer Research UK, and millions have been raised in the fight against bowel cancer over the years.

When is Football Shirt Friday?

Football Shirt Friday takes place on the last Friday of bowel cancer awareness month; April. For 2020, everything will be happening on the 24th April.

Expect a flurry of activity across all social media channels on the day.

How do I get involved?

First things first, grab hold of a shirt and get snapping! On the 24th April, share a picture of yourself and be sure to include the hashtag #FootballShirtFriday.

Alongside the photo, you can donate directly via three methods.

To donate online, simply fill out the online form (not forgetting to add Gift Aid to your donation if you’re eligible. You can also text FOOTBALL to 70200 to donate £5, or send a cheque.

More details can be found here at the Cancer Research UK website.

7 great football shirts for Football Shirt Friday

If you don’t own a football shirt (a problem you need to rectify quickly!), or you simply want to pick up a new kit to show off to the world, here are 7 superb options at a range of prices.

Portland Timbers 2019 Home Shirt

Good design is timeless, and in the case of Portland Timbers you can always guarantee a classy looking shirt thanks to their superb crest and strong colour scheme. The 2019 version is no different, and this is one that will age very well in years to come.

Valencia 2019/20 Third Shirt

I love shirts that look a little bit like bus seats, and Valencia’s current third shirt ticks that box to perfection. This is easily one of my favourite designs of the season, and an exciting edition to any collection.

Everton 2019/20 Away Shirt

There simply aren’t enough coral coloured shirts in the world. Of course, if you support another English team the thoughts of buying an Everton shirt might put you off, but I would argue that shirt is so nice (and currently, so cheap!) that it is worth a punt if you’re open to all teams.

Real Madrid 2018/19 Third Shirt

Here’s another superb shirt with a standout colourway, available at a price that is well worth a look even if you already own a selection of kits!

Hamburg 2018/19 Away Shirt

For the fan of German football, how about the 2018 Hamburg away shirt? This is one of the more understated designs on the list, and it’s instantly recognisable crest is a good look.

Wolfsburg 2019/20 Home Shirt

If you own an Xbox, you basically have to buy this shirt? At least, it can’t just be me who thinks about the console when I see this design?

To be honest though, it’s such a good kit that I would recommend this to owners of a PlayStation to.

Parma 2019/20 Third Shirt

Rounding off the list is another one of the designs of the season courtesy of Parma. Parma shirts are top tier on any given season, so this will be one to treasure for Football Shirt Friday and far beyond.
