Best cheap Premier League players for FIFA 20 Ultimate Team
Check out the most overpowered cheap Premier League players and put together a great FUT 20 starter team.
Putting together a decent Ultimate Team squad is becoming increasingly difficult. Actually, that’s not quite right, it’s becoming increasingly expensive.
Even just a few days after release, a quick game of Division Rivals will likely throw you up against some kind of God squad, making it incredibly difficult to compete without throwing money at packs. We feel pressured to spend a fortune on getting the best players, when instead we should be focusing on bringing in some overpowered bargains.
These players can be found in the depths of the transfer market, boasting eye-popping stats and being sold for a packet of peanuts and a rubbish J-Lingz hoodie. For those of you focusing on English clubs this season, these are some of the best cheap Premier League players you can find on FIFA 20.
Let the sweatiness begin.

Best 11: Cheap Overpowered PL Starter Team for FIFA 20
* PLEASE NOTE: each player is listed with a possible upgrade. I recommend going for these players in a few weeks' time, once the market has calmed down a bit and prices aren’t so inflated. Otherwise, you’ll end up just like Man United.
GK: Ralf Fährmann
Estimated Value: 1000 coins
Norwich City’s Ralph Fährmann is more than capable between the sticks. His diving and reflexes make him an excellent shot-stopper, serving as an effective brick wall if your opponent gets through one-on-one. He does tend to parry rather than catch the ball, but you’d be hard-pressed to find better value for money.
Possible Upgrade: Kepa Arrizabalaga
RB: Serge Aurier
Estimated Value: 1800 coins
Serge Aurier is pretty bang average on FIFA 20. However, other right-backs in this kind of price range are pretty damn rubbish, and the likes of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Ricardo Pereira are much more expensive. Besides, he’s certainly quick enough to chase down any pacey wingers and his defensive stats are pretty sound. Not bad for such a low price.
Possible Upgrade: Ricardo Pereira
CB: Joe Gomez
Estimated Value: 1500 coins
I’ve really enjoyed using Joe Gomez so far. He’s quick and strong enough to deal with any pace-abusing opponents, and he’s also not half-bad on the ball - which is always a bonus. Since he’s so cheap, he’s definitely the first defender you should bring in to your Premier League starter squad.
Possible Upgrade: Sokratis Papastathopoulos
CB: Antonio Rüdiger
Estimated Value: 2500 coins
Antonio Rüdiger was a personal favourite of mine last year, so it’s nice to see he’s just as overpowered in FIFA 20, too. His defensive stats are absolutely fantastic for such a low price, while he’s also one of the pacier centre-backs you’re likely to get your hands on. By partnering him up with Gomez, you’ve got yourself one hell of a budget defence.
Possible Upgrade: Davinson Sanchez
LB: Kieran Tierney
Estimated Value: 3000 coins
The eye is immediately drawn to Kierna Tierney’s 88 pace, which isn’t too shabby for a left-back at all. He’s the perfect addition for anyone who likes to play with attacking full-backs, since he can come bursting through on the overlap and also get back quickly to defend counter-attacks. Besides, sweaty pace has always been the way forward on Ultimate Team.
Possible Upgrade: Lucas Digne
CDM: Wilfred Ndidi
Estimated Value: 2000 coins
I love Wilfred Ndidi. He’s an absolute warrior in the middle of the park. He’s physical enough to shrug opponents off the ball, and also boasts the defensive awareness to cut out deadly through-balls. He’s fairly quick for a CDM, too, and he’ll protect that back four as if his life (or your controller) depended on it.
Possible Upgrade: Rodri
CM: Tanguy Ndombele
Estimated Value: 7000 coins
Okay, so Tanguy Ndombele is a bit more expensive than the other guys on this list, but I really do recommend saving your coins until you can get hold of him. He’s another quick and powerful midfield battler, providing the physicality required to really dominate that midfield, and his impressive dribbling stats also make him very difficult to dispossess.
If he's a little out of your price range, then look at getting Mateo Kovačić instead.
Possible Upgrade: Moussa Sissoko
CM: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
Estimated Value: 1900 coins
The Ox provides more of an attacking outlet from midfield, bursting forward into open spaces and offering support to whoever you’ve got up top. He’s not the best finisher on the game, but he’s more than capable of getting into dangerous areas and slotting one into the bottom corner. You’ll certainly get your money’s worth with him.
Possible Upgrade: Gini Wijnaldum
RW: Michail Antonio
Estimated Value: 2800 coins
I was actually going to recommend Allan Saint-Maximim here, but too many YouTubers have hyped him up and his price has inevitably sky-rocketed. Instead, you should seriously consider taking a look at Michail Antonio, who offers plenty of pace out wide and pretty decent finishing stats. But the choice for this position isn’t as obvious as the others, with Pedro and Xherdan Shaqiri offering tempting alternatives.
Possible Upgrade: Riyad Mahrez
LW: Leandro Trossard
Estimated Value: 3000 coins
Leandro Trossard is the hidden gem of FIFA 20 Ultimate Team. His overall rating is unremarkable and none of his individual stats stand out - after all, you’ll be able to find plenty of faster wingers. But when you look at those attributes collectively, you’ll find a player who’s just above average in every department. Trossard isn’t just a one-trick pony, and offers a complete, rounded package.
Possible Upgrade: Felipe Anderson
ST: Callum Wilson
Estimated Value: 6500 coins
Well if you’re gonna spend big, you’ll want to do it on a striker. And Callum Wilson is an absolute animal.
His pace has him regularly getting in behind enemy lines. His finishing is deadly in front of goal. His dribbling makes him difficult to challenge. There are definitely cheaper strikers who can do a job, but it really is worth holding on to bring this guy in. He’s absolutely infuriating when you come up against him, but a joy to play with when he’s on your side.
Without question, the best cheap Premier League striker in FIFA 20.
Possible Upgrade: Gabriel Jesus
So there you have it, you don’t have to spend an arm and a leg to put a decent team together this season. As a football price comparison site, it’s fair to say we’re fond of a bargain, so I hope this helps you become a bit of a wheeler-dealer in the transfer market.
