Nike Unleash Vibrant New Barcelona Away Kit

Harkening back to the famous 2005/06 season, this is one of the best La Liga kits we’ve seen so far this summer.

Barcelona away shirt 2018/19

Weeks before we got swept up by all the World Cup excitement, we were introduced to the 2018/19 Barcelona home strip.

For many Catalans (and shirt addicts like ourselves), it was love at first sight. Nike had introduced a drastically different design to last season, with the evenly-sized Blaugrana stripes paying homage to the 10 different districts of the Spanish city.

The new home shirt saw a return to the classic, more traditional, Barca appearance; coming complete with a version of the Catalan flag on the back of the shirt. Now that Andres Iniesta has left the club, it only feels right that Barca should usher in their next generation of superstars by paying homage to the past.

After a largely positive fan reaction, Nike seem to be keeping faith in this throwback theme, following the release of the 18/19 Barcelona away kit.

In a year that’s already seen one Barcelona legend leave the club, it’s fair to say that the new away strip reminds us of a very different Barca hero. Implementing a bright yellow colourway, Nike’s design gives a big nod to the infamous 05/06 season, in which Barcelona won their first Champions League trophy in over 10 years and had a certain Brazilian taking the world by storm.

Of course, we’re talking about Ronaldinho.

The Brazilian maestro will always be considered a Barcelona legend, with his flamboyant trickery and toothy grin known to football fans all over the world. He ushered in a new era of success for the Catalan giants, laying the foundations for the likes of Iniesta, Xavi and Lionel Messi to take the club to the next level.

Well, now fans can celebrate the achievements of Ronaldinho and that 2006 Barcelona team, in a football shirt that’s just as bold and daring as the Brazilian forward himself. Well, almost.

The vibrant, bright Volt colourway is used prominently throughout the design, while the more traditional Barca colours can be found within the detailing on the sleeves and collar. It closely mirrors the design of the 05/06 away strip, while implementing the latest Nike shirt technology and applying a modern twist.

Barca won the treble back in that famous season, setting the world alight with their sheer electricity and attacking style of play. The new generation at Camp Nou will be hoping to mirror that success in the coming season- after all, even with Ronaldinho long gone, we all know the current No.10 isn’t half bad.

The release of new Barcelona football kits is always absolutely massive, so we expect to see the new away strip flying off the shelves in the coming weeks. If you want to bag one at the lowest price, then don’t forget you can find cheap La Liga football kits at FOOTY.COM to pay less and play more.

Grab a brew, and let's talk about subliminal geometric patterns.
