The 2018 Football Dates You Need To Mark In Your Calendar

The mince pies are gone and the midnight countdown is complete, which means it’s time to look forward to yet another year of scintillating football. We’ve put together the big dates you need to know in 2018…

Football Dates

That’s right, folks: Christmas is over for yet another year. With the last of the mince pies gobbled up and every present unwrapped, it’s time for us all to get back to the 9 to 5 grind and contemplate where on Earth our food babies have actually come from. The weather is gloomy, the lights have come down, and we’ve got a whole 12 months to wait until the fat man in the red suit comes back down our chimneys. Humbug, indeed. But, hey, there’s no need to get yourself too down in the dumps, because this year’s football schedule is going to be absolutely jam-packed, so you’ll have to excuse us while we go off and do a little dance in celebration. Only joking, it’s really more of a jig. If that wasn’t enough, then you’ll be pleased to know that this busy football schedule is getting well and truly underway straight away this weekend, as the big boys get back into the hunt for the coveted FA Cup… FA Cup 3rd Round- 5th January 2018

Although the preliminary qualifying rounds started way back in August, for many people the 3rd round of the FA Cup is the true start of the competition. This is the stage of the tournament where clubs from both the Premier League and Championship get involved and, more importantly, when the real giant-killings can get underway. All eyes will be fixed on Fleetwood Town as they look to take down Leicester City on Saturday, while the likes of Derby County and Exeter City will also be dreaming of claiming a major scalp- playing Manchester United and West Brom respectively. The tie of the round, however, is undoubtedly the Merseyside derby on Friday night, as Big Sam looks to continue Everton’s revival by clinching a big win at Anfield. But with Klopp looking desperate for a trophy this season, we aren’t really holding our breath for the Toffees in this one. However, drama is guaranteed. UEFA Champions League Final- 26th May 2018

PSG? Barcelona? Manchester City? No matter who you’re backing to lift the Champions League trophy at the end of May, one thing we can all be sure of is that the winner will have to go on one hell of a journey to get there. With an obscene amount of money spent in the summer, the biggest clubs in the European game have done all they can to strengthen and put an end to Real Madrid’s dominance. There are no easy games any more, and we can all look forward to some epic battles as the best players in the world vie for a place in Kiev’s Final on 26th May 2018. Real Madrid vs PSG in the Round of 16- yeah, that pretty much sums up how mouth-watering this year’s competition is going to get. World Cup 2018- 14th June 2018

Flamboyant football. Vibrant kits. The best players on the planet all in one place. Yep, 2018 is a World Cup year- and we’re literally wetting ourselves with excitement. Kicking off on 14th June as hosts Russia take on Saudi Arabia (not exactly the most exciting fixture), the 2018 World Cup runs until 15th July and lets us all enjoy top-quality football all day, every day, for a whole month. Oh, and it also gives us plenty of time to get cracking on our Panini sticker books! The World Cup always throws up some of the best football kits you’re ever likely to see in the beautiful game, which is why we’ll be comparing prices and finding you the best deals on international kits all year-round!
