1895 to the present day: it’s undeniable that West Ham United have one of the richest histories in the English game.

Ever since the club’s creation under the name ‘Thames Ironworks’, the Hammers have had a loyal fan base that seem willing to give absolutely everything for them. With raucous choruses of “I’m forever blowing bubbles” ringing around the ground and the sheer passion of the fans and players clear for all to see, a trip up to Upton Park has never been something for other sides to look forward to.

Throughout their illustrious history, it’s always been hard to find another team that matches West Ham for passion and ferocity- hell, we’ve all seen Green Street, right? So no matter whether you’re Paulo Di Canio or Javier Hernandez, pulling on the famous Claret and Blue is a massive deal for any player in the world.

It’s also fair to say that the Irons have had their fair share of beautiful shirt designs throughout the years. From the retro adidas kits of the mid-80’s to iconic Fila West Ham kits worn in the early 2000’s, the Hammers have certainly never failed to take to the pitch in style.

Through all of the changes with manufacturers, sponsors and designs, one thing has remained constant throughout the Hammers’ incredible history: the Claret and Blue. Well, it’s nice to see that not much has changed this year, and the 2017/18 West Ham kits are yet another awesome addition to their back-catalogue.

Ah, the new West Ham crest. We know that some fans hate it, while others love it; no matter what your preference, though, the modernised crest is incredibly prominent on the latest home shirt. Sitting proudly on the chest amidst that gorgeous claret colour, it’s impossible to miss the eye-catching yellow of the hammers and the white stitching displaying the name: WEST HAM UNITED.

This year’s design features the same stunning claret and blue colourway that we have all become accustomed to, but this time makers Umbro have included a darkened claret colour across the chest, mirroring the 1993-95 home kit.

With light blue sleeves and once again sponsored by Betway, Umbro have provided the Hammers with a home kit that lives up to all expectations.

Whereas the home kit may follow the kind of design we’d expect from the Hammers, the away kit stands in stark contrast to what we saw from them last season.

Completely ditching the white shirt with claret trim, the 2017/18 West Ham away kit features a black and ‘electric blue’ colourway. This striking combination allows the club’s crest, shirt sponsor and Umbro logo to practically pop out of the shirt, drawing the eye directly to them along with the vibrant blue trim on the shoulders.

This is an incredibly smart football shirt that really wouldn’t look half bad with a pair of jeans and trainers- in fact, you could show it off on a night out if you really wanted to!

As far as West Ham away kits go, we have to say that this is one of the best from the past few years, and it’s no surprise to see so many Hammers fans donning it this season.
