Tuesday night’s Champions League action saw another page added to the history books.

It is a rare occasion we football fans get to see a hat-trick- when they do happen though they are a thing of wonder.

Before this week, PSG had only ever scored one other hat-trick in Europe’s biggest competition, thanks to the enigmatic Swede Zlatan Ibrahimović four years ago.

The French giants kept up their perfect start to the tournament with a 5-0 win over Anderlecht with left back Layvin Kurzawa scoring a hat-trick- yes, that’s right, their left-back! According to Opta sports, 3 goals have never been scored by a defender in the history of the Champions League.

To celebrate this feat, we’re going to take a little trip down Memory Lane- as we take a look at some of the Premier League teams’ recent European hat-trick heroes:

In 2016 Sergio Aguero impressed everyone with his second hat-trick in as many Champions League starts against Borussia Monchengladbach.

After putting City 2-0 up inside half an hour, fans had a long wait for him to finish off his hat-trick. After a number of chances were thwarted he looked set to be on course to settle with a brace, but an imaginative pass from Raheem Sterling in the 77th minute played Aguero into acres of space. After rounding keeper Yann Sommer and slotting the ball home, Aguero went off to a standing ovation, being replaced by Leroy Sane.

Here’s one a little fresher in the memory:

Before Tottenham went out and put in a positive display at the Santiago Bernabeu, they were up against Group H minnows APOEL Nicosia.

Harry Kane

When Harry Kane last visited Cyprus, he scored his first goal under Mauricio Pochettino. This time out he left with the match ball after a perfect left foot, right foot, header hat-trick.

Spurs were without several key players through injury and suspension. As well as a difficult pitch and hostile atmosphere, Spurs struggled to put in a great performance. But up stepped Harry Kane to put the game to bed with a goal in the first half followed by two goals in the space of five minutes just after an hour of play.
