Champions League Ball 2017/18

We can already hear the dramatic music, the roaring crowds and the sound of Cristiano Ronaldo shouting “Siiii!” As we approach the end of August, the opening fixtures of this year’s Champions League edge ever closer- and it’s fair to say we’re just a little bit excited.

Following yesterday’s dramatic group stage draw in Monaco, football fans all over the world are quite literally licking their lips at some of the tantalising clashes they can look forward to. With the likes of Barcelona facing Juventus and Real Madrid being drawn against Borussia Dortmund, the greatest show on Earth certainly won’t disappoint this year.

But our eye was immediately drawn to Group B, where Neymar’s PSG will face the mighty Bayern Munchen- along with Anderlecht and Celtic. The French side will no doubt find it difficult against the German champions, but we’re all positively itching to see what the new-look PSG can really do against the top sides in Europe.

Well, in line with the draw for the group stage, adidas have gone ahead and unveiled their innovative Champions League ball for the 2017/18 season… and we absolutely love it.

It looks as though adidas and UEFA are looking for Europe’s superstars to bring the thunder to this year’s Champions League, as the brand-new thunderstorm design celebrates the playing styles of the tournament’s top players. Well, when you’ve got Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Neymar all competing for one trophy, it’s pretty safe to say that there’ll be something of a storm brewing later on in the competition.

The official match ball will be used throughout the group stage of this year’s UEFA Champions League, as clubs across the continent vie for a place in the knockout phases. Incorporating a dramatic blue and turquoise thunderstorm graphic, this year’s ball is infused with fresh energy and life, which could be seen as a nod to the emerging young talents set to take centre stage.

The likes of Kylian Mbappe, Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio will be looking to build on the success they enjoyed last season, and will no doubt be keen to impress in the biggest football club competition on the planet. A new generation of superstars is emerging, and this is the biggest stage for them to deliver on.

What’s really impressive about this new adidas design is the fact that it’s engineered to withstand all manner of weather conditions. The outer texture coating provides a secure grip and unprecedented levels of control- so players no longer have to worry about a snowy night in Russia, because this ball enhances their performance regardless of the conditions.

Once again featuring the famous star panels alongside the Champions League and adidas logos, the new thunderstorm-inspired design offers an injection of life into what’s already the most exciting competition in the world.

So what do you reckon? Will we see a British team finally reach the Final again this year, or have they been handed a tough draw? Let us know what you think about the group draw and the new adidas ball in the comments!
