Women's Euro 2017: Football Boots To Look Out For
Well, it’s fair to say that women’s football in England is really starting to take off.
Considering that England Women hadn’t even qualified for a major international tournament at the start of the 00’s, it really is remarkable to see the Lionesses doing so well. After finishing runners-up in Finland back in 2009, and winning the third placed play-off at the 2015 World Cup, England now find themselves on the cusp of even greater success.
With Jodie Taylor’s strike giving them their first ever victory over France in a major tournament, England now find themselves in the semi-finals of the UEFA Women’s European Championship. If that wasn’t enough, then you might want to know that the Lionesses will very much fancy their chances against the teams that are left.
Based in The Netherlands, this summer’s tournament certainly hasn’t been short on surprises- with Germany and now France making much earlier exits than expected. But amongst the drama and high-octane action, we’ve been busy checking out the top football boots of this year’s Euro’s so that we can tell you all about them…
Nike Tiempo Legend 7
Back in July, Nike released an absolutely gorgeous collection of football boots especially for the European Championships. Through a combination of aqua, black, white and volt colours, Nike created new stunning designs for some of their most famous boots. Chief among these is the Nike Tiempo Legend 7, which have been worn throughout the tournament by none other than England’s Lucy Bronze. It’s safe to say they’ve proven something of a good luck charm so far…
Nike Hypervenom Phantom II
Yesterday we were telling you all about the brand new Neymar signature Mercurial Vapor boots, but we’re still pleased to see that his exclusive Hypervenom II design are being showcased on the European stage. These eye-catching, iconic football boots were released at the start of last year- and we still find it impossible to take our eyes off them!
Adidas Predator PowerSwerve
We love ourselves a good Predator here at FOOTY.COM. No, we aren’t referring to any kind of Arnold Schwarzenegger action film, as we are of course talking about the iconic Adidas football boots. Laura Fusetti of Italy has been busy showing off her pair of white and gold Predator Powerswerve’s at the Euro’s this year- and we have to say we’re big fans of this old school look!
Pantofola d'Oro Lazzarini
We just couldn’t blog about this year’s European Championships without mentioning Jodie Taylor- even if her choice of boots isn’t as flashy as the others in this list. The England forward has been on absolutely incredible form at this year’s tournament, and she’s been banging in the goals in a pair of Pantofola d'Oro Lazzarini’s. This low-key design might not have you watering at the mouth, but they’ve certainly become more popular following Taylor’s goal spree.
England’s Lionesses will be facing hosts Netherlands at FC Twente’s Enschede on 3rd August 2017, where they’ll be hoping to book their place in the final to face either Denmark or Austria.
After over 50 years of hurt, could this finally be England’s year for international success at senior level? Let us know what you think!
