Manchester City Release Nike 2017/18 Away Kit
Man City's new 17/18 claret and blue away dream.
There’s a blue moon rising.
Following thumping pre-season wins over Real Madrid and Spurs, it’s hard to imagine how Manchester City fans could get any more excitable. However, the Citizens have been given yet another reason to start jumping for joy, because their 2017/18 away kit has finally been released- and it’s fair to say it’s been worth the wait.
Moving away from the black strip employed last term, this year’s City stars will be sporting an absolutely gorgeous maroon colour on their travels. This new striking Nike design is sure to have fans watering at the mouth, as it’s already being likened to the incredibly popular 2012/13 away kit and those of the early 90’s.
As has been the case with many other new kits this summer, this latest Nike offering references the rich history of the club, since this isn’t the first time maroon has been implemented. City fans will no doubt be reminded of the legendary strip worn in the 1956 FA Cup Final, which is so popular amongst the Citizens it can still be bought today.
But the new design isn’t all about nods to the past, as it makes use of the Nike Vapor technology to provide a more modern feel. Making use of the most innovative design currently on the market, the fit of the shirt is enhanced via engineered knit zones, while the blue underlay is designed to significantly improve ventilation.
In short, this is the Rolls Royce of football shirts, so we don’t blame you if you’re absolutely desperate to get your hands on one.
Once again sponsored by Etihad Airways, the white logos and lettering look fantastic on the front and sleeves, so we’re betting that fans won’t care too much about any Burnley comparisons! The trusty sky-blue is still present in the trim on the shirt, so you City fans can be sure of it matching up perfectly with the home kit released earlier in the summer.
We all know that Pep has spent a lot of money this year and, with the new season now just a couple of weeks away, it won’t be long until City fans will get to see the new-boys showing off the fresh look. With the likes of Kyle Walker, Benjamin Mendy and Bernardo Silva already brought on board, the Citizens will be hoping for a significant improvement on last season’s trophy-less campaign.
So who knows? City travel to White Hart Lane in the middle of April so, if all goes as planned, they could well be lifting the Premier League trophy in this new claret strip, but something tells us the title race is going to go down to the wire this season…
Tell us what you think of the new Manchester City away kit in the comments below, we’d love to know your thoughts! Do you think this will be a title-winning strip?
