Manchester City Reveal 2017/18 Home Kit
Inspired by their league winning kit of 1968, Nike have dropped the new Manchester City home kit for the 17/18 season.
After a trophyless season, Manchester City are hoping they can draw inspiration from their past to help regain swagger in their 17/18 home kit.
On the 50th anniversary of the club's second title-winning season, City and Nike have developed a home kit which channels the success of the 1967/68 First Division campaign — packed with all of the latest Nike Vapor shirt technology.
Featuring a sky blue shirt, white shorts and maroon-banded socks, the Man City 17/18 home kit is simplistic, smart and sleek — perfect for Pep Guardiola's young, attack-minded side.
The Spaniard has wasted no time in building his title challenging side for next season and will be hoping the likes of Kevin de Bruyne, Bernardo Silva and Leroy Sané can replicate the success of club legends Colin Bell, Franny Lee and Mike Summerbee 50 years on.
One of Pep's first acquisitions as the City boss was Sané, who has impressed the blue half of Manchester and is targeting further success in the latest City home kit.
"I've loved my first season with City. We work hard to play fast, exciting and attacking football and we're looking forward to creating winning moments for our fans".
- Leroy Sané
Similar to the Aeroswift technology used for the latest FC Barcelona home shirt — which is designed to provide an incredible fit and breathability — Nike has poured all of their latest technology into the kit to help City see off the competition in the Premier League.
Now for the tech talk. Nike has pulled out all the stops to ensure City are given the best chance to better their results of the previous season. Specifically engineered knit zones are used on the shirt to help give a better overall fit when playing, along with an expandable white stripe down both sides of the shirt and shorts to maximise ventilation. Nike Grip technology is also used on the retro-inspired socks to help provide the best connection between foot and boot.
The home shirt will also be the first Premier League top to feature a shirt sleeve sponsor, in the shape of South Korean business Nexen Tire. Not a deciding factor in whether you purchase the shirt, but possibly a pub quiz answer in years to come.
Available now and debuted by the men's side in their pre-season tour of the US, you can find the best prices on Manchester City's 17/18 home shirt and full kit at FOOTY.COM today.
