The 4 Best Boots of 2016

With the European Championships just around the corner, brands are slowing rolling out their new big hitters, making it a promising year for boot lovers. Here are our top four frontrunners for the best boots of the year.

adidas has pushed the boundaries with this laceless wonder.

adidas ace 16

Following on from the very successful first generation, the ACE 15's, adidas has pushed the boundaries and options even more with their latest creation. Not only have they decided to up their game, but they decided to raise the bar for the whole industry. Adidas have gone and created a laceless boot that seems to be winning over a lot of doubters. Created with their revolutionary Primeknit technology, it has really sent waves through the football world. However, knowing that this boot wasn't for everyone they also created two other styles of the top level ACE 16, the "Ace 16.1 Primeknit" and the standard "Ace 16.1" which is available in both synthetic and leather.

puma evopower 1.3

Puma have made something special with the evoPOWER 1.3, taking the best parts of the old model and moulding them into an even better boot. Engineered to produce the maximum power and accuracy on the pitch, the boots feature an AdapLite upper - an innovative upper that bends with the foot while maintaining support. A favourite that keeps on getting better

nike mercurial vapor X

This is the 10th generation of the Nike Vapor and it seems this is the best one yet. Nike have blended touch, speed and durability to create a boot that, some would argue, passes the abilities of the Superfly, their Mercurial benchmark. The vapor has a tongue-less upper which is made from Nikes ultra-thin Teijin microfibre synthetic leather. Essentially this moulds to your foot and doesn't create pressure points. The upper is micro-textured for enhanced touch. If you are a speed merchant but still want that silky smooth touch, the vapor may just be the way to go.

A perfect blend of classic leather and modern tech.

Nike Tiempo legend VI

The Tiempo has been Nike's fall back for the classic boot lover - no nonsense leather and simple. They have exceeded all expectations with their latest offering. Created using a premium kangaroo leather, Nike have supported it with an internal midfoot cage. This is designed to give you less slippage and maximum lockdown. Doing this also increases the durability of the leather, allowing it to have less stitching for the best touch. Worn by players such as Jerome Boateng, Sergio Ramos and Gerard Pique, the Tiempo is a mainstay for defenders.
